Unexpected & Exciting

The two words that title this post sum up my day today. The happenings were both unexpected & exciting. You never know what the day holds for you. You never know what the future has in stall for you.

I awoke this morning expecting to go to work as usual, once work was finished head home and spend the afternoon visiting our local Spar, and then playing with the kids for a while. Well all was headed that way until about 10am. My cellphone rang. This was the call that was going to change my day, my week , my month, my outlook and everything else. It was my Mother-in law on the other end ...

A while back my Father-in law had investigated buying a franchise in a coffee company, but the timing and all was not right. So it was left alone and not spoken about till last night when he got a phone all from the franchise company to ask if he was still interested. As before I was keen to go through the investigation phase again, and wouldn't mind getting involved if given the opportunity.

The phone call was my Mother -in law asking if was interested in going to find out more and meet the director of the Franchise company. Once again I was keen to go along and listen and see what it was all about.

Another phone call soon followed to say that we needed to meet this gentleman between 2 and 3pm this afternoon. So I made the necessary plans and arrangements and headed off to see this gentleman with my Mother and Father -law.

An hour later I walked out of the offices of the company as a motivated partner in a franchisee deal. It was unexpected and sooooooo exciting! It certainly was not how I had planned my day when I got up this morning. Dad, thank you for this opportunity!!!!!!!!!!!!

So that is the story of my day. Be ready for the unexpected and be ready to change and adapt at every opportunity. I'm now going to have to learn a lot more about coffee... Beans or filter, latte or cuppachino or should we make it an espresso? Medium or dark roasted? Freshly ground?Black or white? Milk - hot or cold? Milk or froth? Or perhaps a hot chocolate....?

A weekend with a difference...

This weekend was something different from the usual weekend in our household. Not much has changed in the sleep department though!

Saturday morning I had to get out of bed unusually early to take Mom and Dad to the airport.... off to Cape Town they were... and how I wished it was me! The rest of the day was pretty relaxing, watching some TV, cleaning the outside furniture, potted in the garden and just enjoyed being home for a change. In the evening we had a couple of friends over for a braai. This meant time to catch up. The Super 14 was on, and that's were I'm lleaving this one. Clearly Lions can't swim in a Shark Tank!

Today was soooooo chilled. A quick breakfast at Wimpy and lots of relax time. The A1 GP was in Gauteng at Kyalami, so I managed to catch a bit of it on the telly. The kids got to swim at Granny and Gramps's house even though they are away. Later on in the afternoon I went to Ebotse Golf Estate with one of the friends from last nights braai. They bought a stand there this week, so we went to check it out. That place is something special....
Lindsay is sitting at the dining room table doing school work. This is not the usual!!!

I also came across a new follower to my blog today, so check out her blog when you get a chance.

I hope you all, (all six of you that follow this blog), have a good week!

I know it is going to be a good week in our family, as the running golfer and everything in between are relocating to just around the corner. Yip around the corner, less than 1km away!

Sleeeeeeep

Sleep - something of a rare commodity in our house of late!

There is something going on in household that restricts one from sleeping. Just about a wewek ago Adam was rather sick with those useless things called Tonsils. So Lindsay and I got about 6hours sleep in 3days.

Sunday night comes along and Adam finally has a good nights sleep. However, my neighbour decided to braai and play a game of cricket in his backyard till midnight, so that put a stop to a good nights sleep.

Monday night, the 51st Grammy awards were televised, so that early night went out of the window.

Tuesday night, off to bed early, only to be woken by the neighbour cloding his garage door with a whole lot of effort, causing the dog to bark, my wife to jump out of bed and the maid phoning to ask if we had heard that noise. Eventually nod off and fall asleep to be woken by Kyle going to the loo at 4am, followed by the tiny pitter patter of Devon marching down the passage and climbing into our bed. 4:30am I carry Devon back to bed. 5am the alarm goes off as my wife needs to be at the swimming pool at 6am morning training. Bang goes another nights good sleep.

Tonight, I have a little work to do. No problem, the work gets completed early. Flick throught the tv channels to start the resting process and find Bafana Bafana playing against Chile....Bang again!

Tomorrow night brings about another episode of Fringe at 9:30pm for an hour, and I'm hooked, Bang goes another one!

Maybe the weekend.......

Paperwork and some....

This post is an update on the holiday to Britain that I'm really looking forward to.

So today I learnt that as of the 3rd March this year, South Africans visiting the UK need to in possession of a visa. What this actually means is that if someone doesn't like your face, well then no entry.

Ok, it's not that bad, but the decision is out of your hands and lies in the hands of another.... GREAT!

Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork and some.....

I'm still alive....

That bloggers block...... it seems to be back again!

I'm still alive though for those who thought they might have got lucky and got rid of me. Sorry to disappoint. Although I haven't been posting for a while I have still been following the regular blogs I read. Thanks for keeping me entertained. And Faf I'll try not use too many exclamation marks in this post! Oops, sorry.

Life is moving along steadily, and passing us by day by day. My kids are growing up before my eyes and I can't do a damn thing to stop it. Further more, the parenting manual that every parent wishes they had is still being searched for - daily!

Adam is a week away from being 11 months old a took 4 steps today! 4 Steps, all forward, and at some speed. He is growing up so quickly, and seems to be doing everything at pace. Kyle is playing waterpolo this term at school with training 3 times a week- this coming from someone who never wanted to swim. Maybe the synco girls train at the same time, I'm not quite sure. this needs some investigation!

My wife has been really busy of late with school work and swimming gala's and more. I hardly see her, at least i think she is still around - I see changes of clothes in the wash and none of her belongings are missing. It's not that bad, but she really has been working really hard! Oops another exclamation mark.(Sorry Faf)

Thanks to everyone who commented on the last set of photo's I posted. I thought they were pretty good, and obviously I was the only one. It shows you how many visitors I have to my blog.

Football wise, my beloved team still continues to struggle despite spending 46 Million Pounds on players since the beginning of January. But we have a new captain- Captain Keane is back...... watch us move up the table now... our famous last words!

The SA Tennis Open is currently on at Monte Casino, the first time in 18 years or something. I'm glad to see it make it's return.

and lastly for this post..... I must apologise for all the rain this week in Johannesburg, my wife went swimming this weekend, hence the change in weather and season! Oops again!
