Trans Agulhus Boat Race

So I haven't posted ant photo's for a while. During our holiday in the Cape, on one of the last days we were there, the Trans Agulhus inflatable boat race finished in False Bay on the Strand Beach. I've seen it a couple of times on tv, but this year we managed to see it live. I took some photo's while we were there...

Work, play and chill time!

The start to the new year at school has been rather busy, and all is going well. The weekends seem to come around quickly and vanish twice as fast. Before you know it you are back at work and headed for the next one.

This weekend we decided to go to the zoo. It is not my favourite place to go after running a 21km two hours before, but hey! It was actually quite enjoyable, and the kids had a whale of a time!

I also had time to catch up with friends of ours Mike and Kirsten this weekend over a braai. I had not seen them in a while so catching up was most relaxing and enjoyable. You need time to just chill every now and then.

A couple of weeks ago I discovered a a tv show called the "FRINGE". I'm not a sci-fi fan at the best of times but this program has me hooked. If you haven't seen it, check it out! Thursday evenings at 21h30 on MNET.

A quick update...

I've been at my new job for a week tomorrow. All seems to be going well. There is always that finding your feet and learning the systems phase when starting somewhere new, but all is well. The people I work with seem to be friendly, and a much younger bunch than at my previous place.

I watched the inauguration of Barack Obama this evening, that was totally awesome. I can't believe so many people braved the cold to get out their ans show support for their new leader. Good luck to President Obama and the Americans for the next term of office.

I'm still trying to plod along the road and get some running training in.... and lets leave it their shall we!

My children have started a new year at school and all seems well at this early stage. We have not been called to the office yet to face any music, nor have we had tears on the way to school. This bodes well for the school year ahead.

Back on the road!

Once again my running has taken a turn for the worse in the past couple of months. However, I am going to make a concerted effort to maintain the start I have made to this new running season. Comrades is a month earlier this year which means I am about a month behind where I should be. This might take some toll on race day if you are going for specific time goals, so i will only worry about that closer to the time.

I have started this year off with a 15km run, in just fraction over 90min, which is not ideal, but I then followed it up a week later with a 21km run in under 2 hours(I'm much happier with that). Now all i need to do is continue the day to kilometers and all will fall into place. I am convincing myself that I am motivated, and ready!

Happy Birthday

Today is my Mom in-laws birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I hope you had a wonderful day today. Of course you must of, you spent it with us!
I hope the year ahead is a blessed one!

A new job!

The start of a new year means the end of the holiday period and time for the children to go back to school- that means time to go back to work.

This year I will be starting a new job- still in education but at a different school. This all happens tomorrow morning. So it's meetings and getting sorted for the new academic year for the next two days before the pupils return on Wednesday morning.

Yip, it is in my possession! My passport arrived. I picked it up this morning. The one in the picture is however not mine - that one looks as if it has been around the world in 80 days. Mine is brand spanking new!

This now starts to make my UK holiday just that little more real. I'm all ready to go now! Bring on April!!!!!!

Update and more!

A hang of a lot has happened since the last time I got behind the PC and did any blogging. We have moved into a new year - Happy New Year everyone, I hope it is a good one for you all. I have travelled over 14 hours in one trip to get back home after a wonderful holiday and Christmas with the family! Thanks everyone for making it so memorable and enjoyable. The Proteas have taken a 2-0 lead in the Cricket being played against the aussies!

My wife has turned another year older - Happy Birthday my love. I know that your birthday didn't start off too great but I hope it got better and more enjoyable as the day progressed.

I have managed to get a stiff upper arm playing wii tennis - what a lot of fun and laughter!!!

My Passport has arrived, I am going to collect it tomorrow morning!!!!!

Spurs have bought Defoe back to White Heart Lane!

Spring cleaning has been the order of the last two days. Why is it that every new year people have the urge to spring clean? It was a rather useful exercise though. It is rather tiring though.

I have run a 10km and a 15km race since the last post. No training mind you, just put on the shoes and head for the start line- not a good idea if the course is rather hilly and your brother in-law is in a mood to dash full steam ahead for the finish line to finish some unfinished business.
